Safeguarding

At Missional Generation, safeguarding is a fundamental part of our mission. Ensuring safe practices and safer recruitment is essential to protecting children, young people, and vulnerable individuals. This applies to all volunteers, new members of staff as well as members of the board of trustees.

Our Commitment to Safeguarding

Missional Generation upholds the highest safeguarding standards by working in partnership with 31:8, the Safeguarding National Body. We have a dedicated safeguarding officer on our Board of Trustees, and any safeguarding concerns can be raised by contacting: safeguarding@missionalgen.co.uk

Safeguarding in Recruitment

All volunteers and paid workers must go through a thorough safer recruitment process to ensure they are suitable for working with children, young people, and vulnerable individuals.

Recruitment Process

1. Application SubmissionCandidates must complete an application form appropriate to their role (either a volunteer application form or a job application form for paid positions).

2. Reference ChecksCandidates must submit two references:

1. Church Leader Reference – from a church leader who has known them for at least two years.

2. Professional Reference – from someone in a work environment who has supervised or overseen them in a professional capacity. This must not be a relative. All references are checked for merit before proceeding to the next stage.

3. DBS Check (Disclosure and Barring Service) A full DBS check is required for all roles involving work with children and young people.

4. Safeguarding Training If a candidate is offered a post (paid or volunteer), they must complete safeguarding training before starting their role. Click Here For Training We Access

5. Agreement of AcceptanceBefore formally taking up a role within Missional Generation all candidates must sign an agreement of acceptance, confirming their understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and commitment to best practices and have read over Missional Generation’s safeguarding policy.

By following this process, Missional Generation ensures that all team members—whether in youth work, digital innovation, administration, or operational support—are fully equipped to work safely and responsibly, maintaining the integrity of our mission.

At Missional Generation, keeping children safe is of paramount importance, and the need to provide adequate care for children and young people is at the forefront of any event planning.
